Feeds & Trouble Shooting Them
Feeds are used to create data files for export into other systems. When you click on the start button OCAT runs the feed on a server and when it’s finished it will popup a message with a link to the file’s location. You can carry on with other work in OCAT while it is running
All of the feeds can be customised to suit your requirements. We can also create bespoke feeds
Xero Feed – Invoices & Orders
There are two different feeds for Xero. One for invoices and another for orders. The are different in the following ways:-
- Invoice feed uses – Quantity Invoiced & Invoice Number
- Order feed uses – Quantity Ordered & Order Number
OCAT Won’t check to make sure you have selected orders or invoices but the feed will still work. So if you try to export both invoices and orders at the same time you will see inconsistencies in the exported data feed
Xero only accepts a data file in CSV (Comm separated values) format. IE the values in the data file are separated by commas. This is a bit of a limitation because sometimes there are commas in product names or address lines. We have tried to build logic into the feed creator to handle this but there are occasions when when the data we try to create the feed with isn’t what we expected
Please make sure the billing address is complete. Xero doesn’t like empty addresses and missing country codes
If your feed won’t import into Xero please make a note of the errors and contact support. We can usually change the template we use quite quickly to cope with unexpected data
We can also create specifically to suit your Xero setup
For information about importing the data into Xero please see this Xero help page (you won’t need to do step one – Download the template)
